TCS London Marathon Saturday 2027

Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I’m taking part in the 2027 TCS London Marathon for Parkinson’s UK on Saturday 24 April and would really appreciate your support!

My mum was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2009, and seeing the impact this condition has on her and our family has inspired me to take on the 26.2 miles in support of Parkinson’s UK

Parkinson’s is the fastest growing neurological condition in the world. It’s a progressive condition that affects movement, but it also impacts sleep, speech, mental health and so many aspects of everyday life. Watching someone you care about face these challenges is incredibly difficult and it’s one of the reasons this cause means so much to me.

I’ve completed various sporting challenges in the past including  the Dublin Marathon in 2009, a middle distance triathlon, ride London, and the 2 mile swim Serpentine. The marathon was the hardest one to train for and complete, both mentally and physically.

I’m raising money for Parkinson’s UK because they provide vital support for people living with Parkinson’s and their families, fund groundbreaking research into better treatments, and work tirelessly towards finding a cure.

If you’re able to support me, no matter the amount, I’d be incredibly grateful. Every donation will help make a difference to people living with Parkinson’s, while giving me that extra motivation to keep putting one foot in front of the other on training runs and on marathon day.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story, and thank you for supporting me, my mum, and everyone affected by Parkinson’s.

My updates

The start

Monday 10th Aug
The past week’s been a bit mad. Juggling childcare through the summer holidays, work, coming home from a holiday to a major leak in our home. Then in the middle of this I’ve had the news that I’ve been accepted by Parkinson’s UK to represent them in the London Marathon next year.
I think it’s beginning to sink in. The excitement of running on the 24th April next year. Also the daunting task of all the training, the thought of ‘is my body now capable of this’ 🤣 I hope so.
The only other marathon I’ve completed was Dublin in 2009 having been sick of applying for London and not getting in. Yes I completed it, was it a time I was happy with? - no, but was I young and stupid back then - yes (setting off way too fast!)
This time round I’m definitely older. But the goal is sub 4 hours. Soon it will be time to get training.

Thank you to my sponsors
