Monday 18th MayAs I sit here in the Seaview Hotel's Sunset Lounge (St Paul's Malta) sipping a cocktail or two listening to the evening entertainment (think low key Live Lounge) I feel very blessed to have such a wonderful family and friends by my side as I begin the next phase of my life which will now be known as The Parkinsons years.
My symptoms began in the summer of 2025 with an occasional tremor down my left arm and leg coupled with stiffness in my movements especially noticeable in my walk.
Whilst I await the final part of the official diagnosis which is a DAT Scan, an amazing bit of kit to track the dopamine levels in my brain, I look to keep moving forward taking on any opportunity to spend time with my family and friends and embracing the new world I am entering.
There is no known cause for Parkinsons so it is important to allow the world of science to be supported to look not only at the likely causes and at improved treatments hence why I have signed up to walk 5.6 miles raising money to support research into Parkinsons. I have also registered my details for future research purposes which will include analysis of my DNA.
