For Dad - Chris Maggs

I’m taking part in Walkies for Parkinson’s to fund Parkinson's UK's groundbreaking research into better treatments and a cure.

There’s no cure for Parkinson’s. Yet.

I'm uniting with thousands of others, all passionate about improving life for people with Parkinson’s.

I'm walking for my Dad, Chris, who was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2018. Last year we took part in a walk for Cure Parkinsons for him, with him completing the last lap with us.

Dad sadly passed in April of this year but we will be walking in honour of him.

This year myself, Laurie (husband), Thea & Tom (kids), Harley (Jackabee pooch) will be joined by our new doggo, Iris (border doodle).

I'll post plenty of updates of our shenanigans!

My updates

Almost there...

Tuesday 29th Oct
We've almost come to the end of our Walkies for Parkinsons challenge (despite the slight hiccup of Iris being out on reduced duties and wearing the cone of shame for 10 days...)
She's now free and able to finish up the challenge with me... complete with Halloween jumper 👻🎃
Thank you to everyone who has donated so far 😊

Getting ready!

Sunday 15th Sep

We start a new fundraiser in 3 weeks time to raise money for Parkinson's UK. Walkies for Parkinson's is turning into an annual thing for us, last year we supported Cure Parkinson's, this year is Parkinson's UK's turn.

My Dad, Chris, was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2018 and it progressively took away his independence. Despite this, he walked the last leg of our 100km with us in October last year and enjoyed a cuppa and a fair few Welsh cakes in celebration. This April, we sadly lost Dad, however, we continue to raise money for Parkinson's and walk in his memory.

Dad loved dogs, especially our two, so bringing them in on the action seems fitting. We're joined this October by our new doggo, Iris (Bisley) pictured for cuteness on her 1st birthday this week with her big sister, Harley.

Though it is a difficult time with the cost of living rising, any donations are gratefully appreciated.

Expect lots of pictures of walkies. Thoughts and prayers for kind weather in October, please!

Thank you to my sponsors
