My updates

19th May . Our longest so far!

Tuesday 19th May
Well we did 16.05 miles today !!!!!
Set off about 9.30am heading for Christchurch. The weather was a bit dull and even a bit drizzly but we didn’t get too wet! With the wind behind us we walked along the prom by the sea which was rolling in! Easy level walking until we came to the Nature Reserve at Hengistbury Head. Our reward was brilliant views although it would have been even better in the sunshine! Following the well defined path we made our way past even more beach huts to the ferry crossing to Mudeford. - just a 5minute crossing. From there we walked into Christchurch. We had thought we may get a bus back but feeling ok the decision was made to walk back to Bournemouth along the cliff top path. Now sitting in our hotel room with my feet up and a cup of tea 😊

18th May

Monday 18th May
This morning we caught a bus to Poole, walked down to the quay and took the ferry to Brownsea Island. A windy 20 minute crossing to this little NT island where we should have seen red squirrels. Although we did see evidence of their feeding activity, they were nowhere to be seen. We walked every path on this little island and saw baby rabbits, young fluffy goslings and lots of wetland birds! There were magnificent views over Poole Harbour and the forest walks were very tranquil, the whole experience was very uplifting. An amazing treasure of a place well worth a visit. Just 8 miles walked today, 2 bus rides and 2 ferry trips!

Sunday 17th May

Sunday 17th May
A lovely coastal walk today, cloudy, some sun but no rain. We walked from Bournemouth to Swanage, taking the 4 minute ferry crossing from Sandbanks to Studland.- we walked 10.64 miles. We did take the bus back which also came back on the ferry!!!
Even managed to see the steam train in Swanage - a definite bonus for Steve!

16th May

Saturday 16th May
Today we had a short walk on our arrival in Bournemouth. Light rain but it didn’t keep us in - we did 3miles taking in the pier the East Cliffs and the Gardens. Just to mention as well that the £250 we paid into our giving page was done over the phone, when we explained that it was cash donations from those who signed our sponsor form, which we will post off to Parkinson UK’s head office at the end of May. We asked that it was listed as such. I have now emailed and ask if they can clarify that. Thanks to everyone for all your generous donations- now up to £888 - we will have to keep walking!!!!!
👍😊

12th May

Tuesday 12th May
Our 16 year old Grandaughter Amélie, walked with us today. It was sunny but very windy. We did another circular walk from their house - 6.61 miles covered. Thank you Amélie for sharing our walk, we enjoyed your company…. Kept us smiling‼️😍

Saturday 9th

Saturday 9th May
T Today we walked in Morecambe, Steve’s birthplace, and his brother Geoff and Margaret walked with us. Lovely to be by the sea and have the amazing view of the Lake District mountains across the bay.
11.52 miles walked today and lots of good conversation! Thank you Geoff and Margaret.

8th May

Friday 8th May
8th May - managed to squeeze a little walk in today between jobs! Only just over 2 miles …. Although maybe a little further because I forgot to set my watch as we started so I missed a bit! (Spent too long on the Garden Centre!) Lovely walk though with views looking back towards Rishton Res with the canal.

Day 6

Wednesday 6th May
Busy gardening this morning! Stayed local again and took a walk up to Cut Wood Park - just over 3 miles walked. Every little counts!

Day 5

Tuesday 5th May
A busy day -  had a dash around Rishton with messages, things to post and collect and jobs to do. Does that count …. I did do 3 miles!

Day4

Monday 4th May
Parked in Feniscowles - set off through a wooded area and then along the canal. We did have a bit of road walking but arrived in Withnell at Paul and Joanne’s for a cuppa and a chat with them and Katie. Different route back to the car involved a bit of a scramble through the blue bells! 7.52 miles walked today.

Day 3

Sunday 3rd May
Decided to have a local walk up to Sarah and John’s house after church today. Along the canal and over Stanhill returning via Knuzden and Whitebirk  - we like round trips. 9.24 miles! We did have refreshments and rest half way round today! 😊

Day 2

Saturday 2nd May
Dropped Élodie off at gymnastics. In Preston at 9.30am and our youngest Grandchild Gabrielle (aged 10) joined us in our walk today. We walked through town, by the river, the marina and through the parks. Interesting and Gabrielle kept us going! 8 miles covered!

Ist May

Friday 1st May
Car in at the garage - Did a lovely walk around Burnley. Beautiful sunny weather, lots of blue bells, May flowers, red campion, cow slips and blossom trees. 12.04 miles covered today!!! That’s a good start
