My Why

Tuesday 14th Jul

I’m proud to be running the Oxford Half Marathon in support of Parkinson’s UK, a cause that means so much to me and my family.

My grandad lived with Parkinson’s for many years, but he never let it define him. He faced every challenge with incredible determination until he sadly passed away from pneumonia. Running was a huge part of his life, so taking on this challenge feels like a fitting way to honour his memory.

My motivation has grown even stronger since my grandmother was also diagnosed with Parkinson’s. Watching the disease rapidly take away so much of her independence has been incredibly difficult. Simple things that many of us take for granted have become daily challenges, and seeing the impact Parkinson’s has had on her life has made me even more determined to support the incredible work of Parkinson’s UK.

By running the Oxford Half Marathon, I hope to raise money for Parkinson’s UK to help fund vital research, improve support for those living with the condition, and give hope to families like mine. Every donation means the world. Thank you for your support.
