Manchester Marathon 2025

Why I'm fundraising for Parkinson's UK

I’m taking part in the Manchester Marathon for Parkinson’s UK and would love your support.

Mags (the mother-in-law) was diagnosed with Parkinson's 15 years ago now. The symptoms were slow at first but have accelerated of late and now have a major impact on her everyday life.

It's particularly sad that someone who was so active not so long ago - from via ferratas in Switzerland to countless hikes in the Lakes - now has their movement severely impaired with painful falls a regular occurrence.

Somehow, Mags faces this daunting day-to-day reality with determination, good humour and grace. Running a few miles through my old stomping ground of Manchester will be light work in comparison.

The more money we raise, the faster Parkinson's UK can make the breakthroughs that are currently, teasingly, just out of reach.

To help Mags and thousands of others who are trying to navigate life with Parkinson's, please donate a little if you can. It really can make a difference.
