Running for a Cause: a Half Marathon in Memory of My Grandfather and Grand-Auntie
I’m excited to share that I’ll be taking part in the Hackney Half Marathon on the 18th May 2025 in support of Parkinson’s UK. This run is not just about crossing the finish line—it’s about honoring the memory of two incredibly special people in my life: my grandfather and my grand-auntie, both of whom lost their battle to Parkinson’s disease.
My grand-auntie, in particular, had a long and heartbreaking journey with the disease. From the age of 18, and while I was doing my studies, I was deeply involved in her care, assisting her through her daily struggles that lasted over a decade. During this time, she was confined to a bed as the disease gradually took away her independence and vitality.
Parkinson’s disease affects lots of people around the world, and despite the progress made, there is still so much work to be done to avoid the fate she had.
I would be incredibly grateful if you could join me in supporting this cause. All money raised will help fund breakthroughs and help support the Parkinson's community.
