Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK

I’m walking for Parkinson’s UK in memory of my husband Ted who we sadly lost to this devastating disease just eight months ago. He battled Parkinson’s with immense strength for eight long years.
The final years of his life were deeply painful for us all. Parkinson’s didn’t just affect him, it affected our entire family. It slowly took away his confidence, his voice, and his independence, until it felt like we were grieving long before he was physically gone. I now understand why they call it the long goodbye.

I miss him every single day. This walk for Parkinson's is more than a personal challenge for me, it’s a tribute to his strength and resilience. It’s my way of turning grief into purpose, honouring his memory, and doing something that could help other families avoid the heartbreak we’ve endured. I want to raise money to support research, improve treatment, and bring us closer to the cure that he, and so many others, deserved.
