TCS London Marathon 2026

Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I’m taking part in the TCS 2026 London Marathon for Parkinson’s UK and would really appreciate your support!

As many of you will know, my dad lived with Parkinson’s for 20 years. What many of you may not know is that dad sadly passed away in January this year after a long and courageous battle. As a family we haven’t shared this online, so it might come as a shock to some of you to learn this sad news.

Dad and I shared a really special and unique bond, we were best friends from the very beginning. He ensured mine and Jake’s lives were filled with music, laughter and love. He was simply the best.

I miss his gentle but strong hugs and his quiet words of wisdom and calm when life got chaotic.

Although not physically here anymore, I feel his presence greatly. So much of who I am is because of him. It’s in this spirit that I’m taking on one of the biggest and silliest challenges I ever will. It’s always been a bucket list thing for me to run the London marathon. If I can raise a whole load of money for Parkinson’s UK, who have supported dad and my whole family for many years, then that’s a win win.

I must make it clear here - I don’t run. Yet. I’ve never even done a 5k (a marathon is 42k). I fully believe the mammoth undertaking of this challenge hasn’t hit me yet but maybe that’s the best way to go about it. Training has begun and I’ll be sharing my progress on socials @loisontherun so you can keep up with my misadventures and have a good giggle along the way.

From Mum, Jake, Rach and myself we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your donation, you have no idea the impact it can have on families facing this disease.

If my brave and strong dad can live with Parkinson’s for 20 years and still find a way to smile and laugh every day, then I can run a marathon for sure. (It’s easy, right?!)

My updates

Week 2

Monday 11th Aug
Hello everyone,

I just want to say thank you to everyone who’s donated so generously so early on in this journey. Your support has given me a massive boost in starting this thing and knowing that people are invested (both emotionally and financially) right from the start is lovely.

This week I ran my first 5k! After doing the first week of C25K I thought let’s just give it go. Did a lovely parkrun in Wilmslow and finished in 39 mins. Delighted! Onwards now to week 2.

I’ll do my best to put little updates on here but the main place I’ll be sharing progress is on instagram @loisontherun so drop me a follow over there to stay updated!

Thanks everybody, love ya all xx

Well done Lois on raising funds in your lovely Dad’s memory. Even if you walk nearly all the way it will be a fabulous tribute. It will be overwhelming, exhausting and exhilarating and worth every single step. Go for it knowing you have lots of support, especially your Dad’s to carry you when the miles seem tough. What a lovely tribute and such an inspiration to all us non runners out there!
