In the Uk 28,000 people are expected to be diagnosed with Parkinson's this year. This rate is equal to one person being told they have the condition every 20 minutes.
Seeing how much work my family, alongside many others, puts in to care for one of my grandad is the main reason why I want to run this race. For me he’s an inspiration, keeping the memories living on and this wouldn’t be possible without the amazing support for him.
This is my first half marathon and I’m doing it to make a difference, to help other families that care for their loved ones with Parkinson’s so that they can keep telling their stories to their grandchildren.
My Mum is doing the Newcastle 10k, to push herself as she believes people with Parkinson’s and their families are working incredibly hard to push themselves day in day out.
