Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK

I’m taking part in Walk for Parkinson’s 100 Mile Challenge to help fund specialist care for people with Parkinson’s in loving memory of my father Micheal wardley.

Everyone knows I am allergic  to exercise, can’t read a map and gets lost on a straight road!!  So what better challenge than this 😆 I will be taking on lots of nature walks throughout Surrey so check in for those weekly updates and endless silly stories I will share for what happens on our adventures…… did you know about the time I got lost with the kids and ended up walking into a cow!!! True story!

Follow, share, donate or come join me for a walk any and all support is appreciated

My updates

Our walking continues ABROAD!!!!

Wednesday 16th Apr
Michael’s granddaughter Amy was invited to dance on a stage at Disneyland Paris So for the last three days we have been in Paris, recording our steps to include towards our challenge!!! Blimey what a lot of steps we did!!!! My blisters have blisters It was a bittersweet experience because initially we had hoped that Mum and Dad were both joining us as a family in Paris to watch Amys dance show . So there was a lot of emotional moments during these last three days as we continued and pushed forward to enjoy one of the most exciting experiences and opportunity that we were given So here’s the good news from Sunday, the 13th of April to Tuesday, the 15th of April. We completed just over 60,000 steps towards this challenge which is equivalent to approximately 25 miles. Trying to keep my emotions on a level so Amy could focus on her performance was difficult. One ride in particular got me very emotional not for being fast or scary - but the Star Wars immersive experience. Years ago started the tradition of me and dad going to the cinema together to watch films just the two of us. We started off with the new Star Wars films. I had never been a Star Wars fan so the novelty and excitement of it for me wasn’t huge but I enjoyed going with Dad to the cinema to watch the new ones as they came out so when we were walking through the immersive experience, all I could think of was how much he would have enjoyed this experience. The visual effects and experience of it was truly breathtaking. Even for someone who wasn’t a super fan, after we finished the Star Wars franchise and no new films were being brought out we moved onto the Jurassic Park remakes. Followed by the Marvel franchise which is my personal favourite. His grandson Max will now be my cinema buddy for the upcoming Marvel and Jurassic Park movies which are out later this year. Thank you once again to everyone who has already donated towards Parkinson’s it means more to me and my father then you will ever know all the best little stuff xxx

April 6th - our first walk

Sunday 6th Apr
We started with an easy 2 mile route!!! Or so we thought!!!! 4.73 miles later and a few wrong turns we completed the journey back to our start point. Turns out as a Cub Scout leader and two scouts in tow we cant map read very well!!! But we found cows, horses, a swing next to a power station and skimmed stones in the stream. At one point we thought we were meant scramble over the fallen tree only to end up in lots of brambles and on a path untouched in quite a while 😂 But all three of us made it without anyone falling into the water (Amy’s favourite party trick) Or falling over any branches (my speciality) or walking straight into objects (maxs skill) Looking forward to the next walk later this week Little stuff

100 mile challenge - The beginning an introduction

Friday 4th Apr
I know what you’re thinking right?

Lauren volunteering to go out walking for pleasure 100 miles eesk!!!

That girl gets lost on a straight road with road signs and has to phone her parents for help. How is she gonna manage 100 miles of nature walks without getting lost?  The truth is as I upload this blog I’ll probably have many funny stories for you for “
Lauren gets lost again.”
“Lauren falls down a hill …..again.”
“ Lauren gets stuck in quicksand because she can’t read a map and took the wrong turning”

The possibilities are endless for the adventures, I will go on for this challenge.

The official challenge starts May 1St however, we are going to start earlier. My dad was also a deeply loved grandad (grangrad) by my children his grandchildren Max and Amy. As we are in the Easter holidays we are going to start with some nature walks and adventures together as the three of us to help us walk talk and move forward from this tragedy.   We might even throw in a little bit of Geocachings or Pokémon go to our nature walks.

Who knows we may even end up doing more than 100 miles by May 31St

Our last walk in memory of our grangrad, my dad will be at Virginia water Lake in Surrey as this particular walk and route around the lake is special to me.  I remember doing this with my dad as a child, now I take my children for walks around this lake, and who knows hopefully tradition will continue and my children will continue with their children.

So please, if you can please donate towards this charity.  Or support me by joining me on any walks I will upload blogs and photos or videos when we are doing them or please just simply share The page for awareness

Always and forever, love you Dad
