I am fundraising for Parkinsons UK in honour of my step father Robert Leslie Wilson.
Why I’m Fundraising for Parkinson’s UK
In 2019, my step‑dad Bob was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. On Easter Monday this year, he died peacefully.
Losing Bob has left a space in our family that can never be filled, but the lessons he taught me continue to guide every part of my life.
Bob wasn’t just my step‑dad. He raised me from the age of four. He shaped who I am. He was my hero. A devoted husband, a loving dad, a proud grandad, and the most selfless person you could ever meet. He worked hard all his life, always put others first, and never once complained, even when things became difficult.
Bob always taught me to work hard, love deeply, never give up, and do my best.
In honour of Bob, I’m fundraising for Parkinson’s UK and for families who, like ours, have lost someone to this cruel disease. Parkinson’s affects more than 150,000 people in the UK, and its impact reaches far beyond the diagnosis. It affects partners, children, grandchildren, and entire communities. I want to help fund research, support, and hope for those still fighting, and to honour the memory of those we’ve lost.
In 2026, I’m taking on my biggest challenge yet: completing nine half marathons and my first full marathon Snowdonia.
I run for myself — for my own strength, my own wellbeing, and my own journey. But while every step is mine, I choose to dedicate this challenge to Bob’s memory and to raising money for Parkinson’s UK.
Every donation helps families like ours.
If you’re able to support this fundraiser by donating, sharing, or simply reading my story it means more than I can say. Thank you for helping me honour Bob’s memory in a way that reflects who he was: strong, steady, loving, and full of quiet determination.
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I’m taking part in the Great North Run on 13 September 2026 to raise vital funds for Parkinson's UK.
Please help by sponsoring my challenge. All money raised will help fund breakthroughs and help support the Parkinson's community.
