Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK
I never thought I’d be writing this… I’m running the London Marathon! 🏃♀️💙
I’m doing it for someone incredibly special to our family — my father-in-law, Jimbo who sadly passed away after living with Parkinson’s.
Running a marathon is a HUGE challenge for me because, quite honestly, I don’t run! 😂 But when I found out I had secured a place, I knew I wanted to take it on in his memory. I’ll be running alongside my sister-in-law, Victoria and together we’re raising money for Parkinson’s UK.
There was always a family joke that I was the only one of his daughters-in-law who hadn’t done a marathon… although, technically, I was his only daughter-in-law! 😂 Just the rest of them are super keen, good runners!
But I do know this: he would have been incredibly proud of me for doing this. ❤️
Parkinson’s is such a cruel and unpredictable disease, and seeing its impact on him and our family is why supporting Parkinson’s UK feels like such a meaningful way to honour his memory and help others living with it.
I’ve gone from “I’m not a runner” to taking on 26.2 miles around London — and I already know there will be plenty of moments when I wonder what on earth I’ve signed myself up for! 😂
But every training run, every aching muscle, and every step on that course will be for him.
I hope that when we reach the finish line on 25th April 2027, we’ll look up, smile, and know he would be cheering us on.
For you, Jimbo, always. 💙
If you can spare anything to support my fundraising, it would mean the absolute world to me and our family.
Thank you for helping me make this crazy challenge count. ❤️
