Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK
On the 28th September, I completed my very first half marathon in 2 hours and 45 minutes. Crossing that finish line was such an incredible feeling, and now I’m determined to push myself even further. This time I’m aiming to get closer to 2 hours.
But this run is about so much more than a personal challenge. I’m running for my Grandad, Andy Andrews. I’ve seen first hand how Parkinson’s has affected him, and I would give anything to be able to help him. He has always inspired me to never let anything hold me back, and this run is my way of showing him how much that means to me.
Every pound raised goes directly towards funding life-changing support and groundbreaking research. Bringing us closer to better treatments and with any luck one day, a cure.
Here’s what your donation could do:
• £75 could enable a Parkinson’s nurse-led clinic in the community to run for half a day
• £150 could allow Parkinson’s UK to answer 15 calls to their helpline, giving vital advice and support
• £500 could fund a specialist Parkinson’s nurse for 25 hours
• £1,000 could fund a cutting-edge research project for a week
• £2,500 could provide nursing support for people with no local service for 2 weeks
