Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I’m taking part in the Great North Run on 13 September 2026 to raise vital funds for Parkinson's UK. 

Please help by sponsoring me whatever you can. All the money raised will go to Parkinson’s UK nurses, to provide much-needed advice, support and information for people who are living with the condition.

Kerri runs a (half)marathon!

Like a lot of people, I saw stories and photos of Micheal J Fox, Muhammad Ali and countless others suffering with the debilitating and very different range of symptoms that Parkinson's present and thought how sad and it must be awful...it's also true that you don't understand until it happens to you or someone you know.
My Dad, my absolute lifetime hero, began showing symptoms of what was first thought to be Alzheimer's back in 2010 but was later found to be Parkinson's.
Devastating to watch someone so special change before your eyes. On the good days, my dear old Dad was very much still there but on the bad ones, he looked and spoke like someone I didn't know. Yet with a smile that never seemed to waiver and with very little complaint, my Dad battled on each and ever day until he passed in 2021. Although plagued with other health issues Parkinson's changed parts of him I had grown to adore but I'm so grateful that it left the best bits of him, even if those days were often few and far between but he always managed a smile and one that could brighten up the darkest day.

I didn't think I'd ever be a runner and still don't class myself as a 'proper runner' but this i know I can achieve, even more so that I'm doing it for such 
 a worthy cause and because I know my Dad would probably be thinking I'm mad but he'd also be brimming with pride. So that is my goal in all this, to make him as proud of me as I am of him.
