Why am I fundraising?
Monday 16th FebMyself and a few friends are running the Manchester Marathon. For a few of us, it is our first (and potentially only) marathon, so we are each fundraising for a cause that means a lot to us.
My Nana (Beryl 🐝 ) was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease a few years before I was born. She lived with it for over 20 years, eventually also being diagnosed with Lewy Body dementia. As this all happened when I was growing up, it is only when I started studying and working as a pharmacist in the NHS that I fully understood the impact this diagnoses would have had on her and my family.
She was born, and grew up, in the Manchester Area so it feels apt to have chosen to fundraise for Parkinson’s UK whilst running through this city. I hope the money raised will to help support the research for a cure and the development of new drug therapies as well as supporting those living with Parkinson’s Disease and their families.
