Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I’m taking part in the Royal Parks Half Marathon 2026 to raise vital funds for Parkinson's UK.
Anyone who has known me since ever, knows that historically I’d have rather stuck knitting needles in my eyes than run by choice (except a couple of “fun” runs with friends).
But that’s kind of the point, why should anyone give me money for doing something fun like jumping out of a plane, or hiking across beautiful Scotland? If I can respectfully ask anyone to donate, I have to do something tough. And for this top heavy asthmatic who thinks cardio is hardio, this I want to run for Parkinson’s UK because my Dad died with Parkinson’s. And whilst it wasn’t the cause of his death, it did cause his death. And stole his life, long before he actually died.
Parkinson’s is an horrific illness, but the work being done by Parkinson’s UK is vital for those who are suffering. And they are helping fund research for treatments. And who knows, maybe if I run far enough, they’ll find a cure.
Anyway, please donate (or give to your local Parkinson’s charity- Parkinson’s NZ helped Dad).
Anyone who donates has full rights to laugh at me coming last. No money, no funny.
Anyway, What the diddly bollocks have I done?
Please help by sponsoring me whatever you can.
