Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK

In September 2024, my Dad was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.
Parkinson's is a progressive neurological condition. This means that it causes problems in the brain and gets worse over time. Around 153,000 people live with Parkinson’s in the UK. And it's the fastest growing neurological condition in the world.
Thankfully Dad is only in the early stages and is managing his symptoms with medication; however, there will come a time when the medication can no longer help him and the Parkinson's will take over his body. Knowing that my Dad will one day not be anything like my Dad because of this disease is heartbreaking.
I'm taking part in the Great North Run on 7 September 2025 to help raise vital funds for Parkinson's UK in the hope that more research can be done to help people with this awful disease and in the hope that one day, a cure is discovered.
Please help by sponsoring me whatever you can. All the money raised will go to Parkinson’s UK nurses, to provide much-needed advice, support and information for people who are living with the condition.
