Why I'm fundraising for Parkinson's UK

I’m taking part in Move for Nurses to help fund specialist care for people with Parkinson’s.

This July, I will be moving 25 minutes a day to help fund 25 more Parkinson's nurses.

Right now, thousands of people with Parkinson’s lack access to the health and care professionals they urgently need. That's why the Parkinson's UK Nurse Appeal aims to fund at least 25 Parkinson’s nurses. Just 25 more nurses could give 7,500 more people access to specialist care.

Please sponsor me on this challenge to raise £135 which will fund a nurse for half a day.

31st JULY 2026 THE LAST DAY OF THE CHALLENGE!!

Friday 31st Jul
The last day of July month and so ends the Moving for a Parkinson's Nurse challenge month.
I wanted to pack in as much movement as I could before I went of to work.
I begun with  5 minutes of stretches. I then went  to the garden to water the plants, and pick up the dropped fruit. All this took about 20 minted.
I then spent the next 1hr and some cleaning before setting off to work at 1:15.
I managed to total 7911 steps today.
I am really very pleased that I decided to do the challenge, and even more pleased with the donations I received, in support of this.

Thank you all xxxx

28th-30th July

Thursday 30th Jul
I have been moving without a doubt!
I have not managed any extra or exciting activities in my last number of days.  But, I have been moving.
One last day of this month's challenge, and I definitely am pleased to have made it all the way to the end!

Monday 27th July, on my last 5 days.

Monday 27th Jul
I am on the last run of, my keep moving for a Parkinson's Nurse. This day till Friday = 5 days and counting......   so, I have done plenty of moving today 6637 steps.

Sunday 26th July, on my last 5 days.

Monday 27th Jul
Yesterday, all my troubles seem so far away........lol!
I moved and moved, that is how it felt anyhow.
5020 steps.

25th July

Saturday 25th Jul
Started with a floor exercise to get my day going. 5 minutes later and I'm done and my day begins. I have packed in as much as the 'hot weather' day would allow me.   6479 steps and I have done a lot of cleaning today and to finish of added some gardening to my keep moving for a Parkinson's Nurse.

24th day and shame I didn't take pictures.s.

Friday 24th Jul
I had my Parkinson's meet-up group. It was joyous!! I kept on moving, and really didn't stop, got others to do some dance moves. We sang, and talked and shared laughter, a very good afternoon.   I returned home and after a couple of errands got on with weeding !!! Another top day of moving, I'd say. I was too busy doing to think of taking pictures or a video, sorry 😞.  Oh! And, 6625 steps yay!!

23 days and 8 more to go!

Friday 24th Jul
Started my day with two sets of floor exercises, as I was feeling particularly stiff; 7 and 10 minutes.  This git me going off to a good start.  I had work in the afternoon,  and during this did a 20 plus minutes walk with client. I even got in 5 minutes of football, and I was in goal!   I managed 7399 steps this day!!!

22 days in.

Wednesday 22nd Jul
22 days in. I have not been doing much in the way of activities these last few days but, I have been moving.   Today, I managed 6103 steps.    I think that is very OK.

Tuesday 21st.

Wednesday 22nd Jul
Tuesday a full work day. Just counted steps 4983 today.

Sunday, Monday happy days!!

Tuesday 21st Jul
I keep on moving until I stop.....lol. Sunday and Monday update. 4972 steps on Sunday, a slowed down day. I visited my friend and walked those 98 steps again (it hasn't gotten any easier yet!). Monday I managed 6111 steps!!  I went for a bike ride, played darts in my garden. Going backwards and forwards getting the darts, can easily increase your steps.  I have of course been in the garden watering my plants. Don't scoff, watering the plants takes a lot of time and keeps you moving.  Finally over these two days , I finished with skipping. I love skipping. I skipped until my heart almost burst; well I said almost 😀

Friday and Saturday (17th&18th)

Saturday 18th Jul
The weekend and I have had to incoporate what I could with my days. I have included more walking, so, that meant getting me out the car and using my legs more!!! All very good.  So, more walking and using stairs instead of lifts ; walked up 98 steps in one hit!
Friday 4385 steps and Saturday 7398. I shall keep counting ...

The after cut garden picture

Thursday 16th Jul
All done, and I think it took 29/25 minutes.

Gardening today on 15th the before and after..

Thursday 16th Jul
A cut and a sweep up, makes all the difference, and it is good exercise.

Walking, walking and gardening.

Thursday 16th Jul
Today, I did about a mile and a half walk. I dropped off my car to mechanics in Brockley and walked home to Forest Hill. I then walked back to collect car; 30 and 25 minutes each way. I thought I would do a bit extra, and mowed front gardenand swept up. It looks much better now.  Plus 12037 steps today.

On the 14th July I....

Thursday 16th Jul
I did a mixture of movements; I played darts, I skipped and walked. All was good fun , and yes, very warm work.  I got in 7148 steps, and I know some were missed off....never mind.

13th day.

Monday 13th Jul
I hope to start adding more activities and fun to my movement for a Parkinson's Nurse challenge.    Today a 22 minute walk, and later when Hole I played darts for 12 minutes, then mu dart board fell apart.  6159 steps too.

This weekend from Friday...

I continue to start my day of movement with stretches. I did a set of stretches from my Pedometer App a full 7 minutes!!  I have decided on doing steps for the ret of my movement today, as out with friends.  Managed 4061 steps; 2.6km (I don't think the App has this right)?
