My Great North Run
Parkinson's disease is a truly dreadful condition which affects many people. I cared for Alan, my husband, and as the condition took hold, watched him become progressively weaker until he could no longer move, swallow or communicate.
Alan and all the other sufferers past and present have inspired me to get out there training and to help Parkinson's UK in their search for a cure.
Wonderful research is being undertaken but we're not there yet. All your generous donations will go directly to Parkinson's UK and will help fund pioneering research. This awful condition must be stopped in its tracks.
I recently got my Newcastle bearings by participating in the Great North 10km but now the serious training starts, especially for the incline between miles 3 and 5. Respite comes in the form of a bit of welcome downhill between miles 5 and 8 before more uphill between miles 8-12......the final stretch: a swift, sharp downhill to the sea and then a flat-ish final mile for the home stretch will be very welcome!
Good luck Judy
