Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK

I’m taking part in Walkies for Parkinson's to help fund specialist Parkinson’s care to make sure no one faces Parkinson’s alone.

Thousands of us are uniting to help people with Parkinson’s, and those who love and care for them, get access to the support they need.

My updates

October 4th

Sunday 4th Oct
Percy and I are out today and have managed to walk 7.5 miles which has put me back up to the mileage I wanted to be at to get to the 90 miles by the end of the month.
I am particularly proud of getting out and walking today as I’ve got a hangover from ladies day at Tenbury rugby club yesterday. Can I say it’s a hangover cure?! Definitely not. But I do feel better for being out and about and doing something when it would have been easy to sit on the sofa.

Day 1

Thursday 1st Oct
Percy and I have had a cancellation at work that made our lunch break a hour and a half long so we popped into town and added another 2 miles on to our daily total. So pleased we managed to do this because I don’t think I’ll be able to have as much free time tomorrow to do as much walking.

Day One

Thursday 1st Oct
Percy and I left the house this morning at 6.15am and walked up town to the castle and back which totally 1.5 miles each way so a 3 mile walk in total.
We left in the dark misty morning and arrived back in sunshine taking just under a hour for this. I’ll share some pictures. Great start to our walks this month.

Why we have decided to walk for Parkinsons.

Friday 25th Sep

This October, Percy and I are taking on a little challenge together — we’ll be walking to raise money for Parkinson’s UK. 💙

We don’t have any direct links to Parkinson’s, but it is such an awful and life-changing disease that when we decided we wanted to support a charity, Parkinson’s UK was an easy choice for our first one.

We’re also using the challenge as a great excuse to get ourselves a little fitter along the way!

Our goal is to raise a minimum of £50 and walk at least 50 miles throughout October.

Now, 50 miles might not sound too scary to some, but with our short little legs, it’s definitely going to be a challenge! 😂🐾 We’ll be getting those steps in, whatever the October weather decides to throw at us.

Every mile we walk will be for everyone affected by Parkinson’s and the families and friends who support them.

If you can spare even a small amount to sponsor us, we would be incredibly grateful. Every donation will help us towards our £50 target and, more importantly, help support the work of Parkinson’s UK.

And if you can’t donate, we’d love your support in another way — come and join Percy and me for a walk! 💙

We’ll keep you updated throughout October with our miles, our adventures and, no doubt, a few pictures of Percy along the way.

50 miles. Two pairs of short legs. One very worthwhile cause. 💙🐾

Wish us luck — we might need it!

Love,
Jo & Percy xx
