TCS London Marathon Saturday 2027

Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I’m taking part in the 2027 TCS London Marathon for Parkinson’s UK on Saturday 24 April and would really appreciate your support!

We’re Parkinson’s UK. The charity that’s here to support every Parkinson’s journey, every step of the way. Wherever you’re from, whatever you need.

We don’t wait for change, we make it happen. We believe that together we’ll find a cure. But that’s not all we’re working for. We campaign for better health and care, fund research into groundbreaking new treatments, and run life-changing support services.

Families, volunteers, campaigners, fundraisers, scientists, health and care workers. We’re a powerful community united by one mission: improving life with Parkinson’s.

My updates

1.

Sunday 9th Aug
I had half forgotten I’d applied for a charity place for the London Marathon until I got the phone call a couple of days ago.

After the disappointment of not getting in via the ballot, I hadn't given it much thought. My initial reaction was, "I need to think about this before I commit." I hung up the phone and spoke to Eleanor, who was immediately supportive, urging me to go for it. I sat back down and thought:

1) It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to run the most famous road race in the world.
2) It will be extra special because I'll be raising money for a charity close to my heart.

I called Parkinson's UK back—it must have been 5 minutes at most since I said I needed time to think—and said, "I'm in!"

My Dad has Parkinson's, so all the hard work that Parkinson's UK does to research new treatments, support patients and their families, and ultimately find a cure is incredibly important to me. Any money you can give to help me teach my goal will go directly toward funding their vital work!

Thanks for your support! Watch this space for regular updates.
