Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK
On 25th April 2027, I’ll be taking on the London Marathon, and I’m incredibly proud to be running it for Parkinson’s.
This is a charity that means a huge amount to me and my family. My mum was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in her late 40s and is now living with advanced Parkinson’s. Watching someone you love live with this cruel and unpredictable condition is incredibly difficult, and it has had a huge impact on our whole family.
Parkinson’s has also affected us through my grandma, who sadly passed away earlier this year. Losing her has made taking on this challenge even more personal and meaningful.
I’m running this marathon for both of them. For my mum, who continues to face the challenges of Parkinson’s every day, and in memory of my grandma, who we miss enormously.
Parkinson’s is about so much more than the symptoms people see. It can affect almost every part of someone’s life, as well as the lives of the people who care for them. That’s why the work this charity does is so important. They provide vital support, information and services for people living with Parkinson’s and their families, while also helping fund research into better treatments and ultimately a cure.
Running 26.2 miles will be a huge challenge for me, but it feels small compared with the challenges my mum and dad face every single day.
My goal is to raise as much money as possible so that we can help the charity continue supporting families like ours and make sure that nobody has to face Parkinson’s alone.
If you’re able to donate, no matter how big or small, I would be incredibly grateful. Every donation will help make a difference, and every mile I run will be for my Mum and my Grandma.
Well done Jonny!! Great cause! Go and smash it mate, just please stop going on about it in work, we get it! You’re training for the marathon! 😁
