Jo's Jogging Journey
Wednesday 29th Jan Those who know me are probably thinking - "really...with your ankles?!" - but I've decided to take on this challenge for many reasons, 3 in particular...Why running?
I love my life and know I'm incredibly blessed, but we all have our own internal struggles. I started to feel my mental health slipping and I needed an outlet, something for myself that allowed me time to clear my head. I found it in running.
Why now?
I was never that sporty kid (or adult!) and I've never competed or taken part in sports or physical challenges before. I've gone for the occasional run when the need to clear my head has been strongest, but I wanted something to commit to. Taking part in this challenge gives me a goal, something to hold myself to, and something I can feel proud of achieving.
Why Parkinson's?
There are so many important charities out there, but this one stood out as I've got personal connections to people who suffer with Parkinson's disease. There is still a lot we are yet to understand about the disease and if me taking part in the RPHM helps raise funds towards the research aimed at tackling that gap in knowledge, it's the least I can do.
