13.1 miles for my Grandads
Tuesday 30th JunThank you so much for visiting my fundraising page 🤍
So… I’m running the London Landmarks Half Marathon 2027 for Parkinson’s UK, which still feels slightly wild to type!
Parkinson’s is a cause really close to my heart!! My Dadaji (dad’s dad) lived with Parkinson’s before he passed away and my Grandad (mum’s dad) is currently living with it. Seeing how much Parkinson’s can affect someone’s independence, confidence and everyday life has made me want to do something, even if that “something” is apparently running 13.1 miles through London!!
A year ago, after a long and frustrating journey to get a diagnosis, I was diagnosed with arthritis and genuinely thought running was something I might never be able to do. Fast forward to now I recently ran my first 5K and now somehow I’m here, going from “I can’t run” to signing up for a half marathon. Character development? Questionable life choice? Probably both.
This is definitely going to be a challenge for me, but it’s nothing compared to what I’ve seen Parkinson’s put people and families through.
This is bigger than the running. I’m doing it for my grandads, for my family, for everyone who knows someone with Parkinson’s and ultimately to help raise money for Parkinson’s UK’s vital work supporting people living with Parkinson’s and funding research.
I’d be so grateful for any donation, big or small. Every pound helps, and your support genuinely means so much.
Thank you 🫶🏽
