London Landmarks Half Marathon 2027

13.1 miles for my Grandads🤍

Thank you so much for visiting my fundraising page 💙

So… I’m running the London Landmarks Half Marathon 2027 for Parkinson’s UK, which still feels slightly wild to type!

Parkinson’s is a cause really close to my heart. My Dadaji, my dad’s dad, lived with Parkinson’s before he passed away, and my Grandad, my mum’s dad, is currently living with it.

Seeing the impact Parkinson’s has had on people I love has made me want to do something, even if that “something” has somehow become running 13.1 miles through London!

Both of my grandads built strong, full lives through resilience, graft and determination. They have always been the kind of men who got on with things quietly, proudly and without fuss, which has made it even harder to watch Parkinson’s affect their independence, confidence, mobility and everyday life.

Seeing someone you love lose the ability to do things so many of us take for granted is heartbreaking, especially knowing that right now, there is no cure.

A year ago, after a long and frustrating journey to get a diagnosis, I was diagnosed with arthritis and genuinely thought running was something I might never be able to do. Fast forward to now, I recently ran my first 5K and somehow I’m here, going from “I can’t run” to signing up for a half marathon. Character development? Questionable life choice? Probably both.

This is going to be a challenge for me, but it’s nothing compared to what I’ve seen Parkinson’s put people and families through.

This is bigger than the running. I’m doing it for my grandads, for my family, for everyone who knows someone living with Parkinson’s, and to help raise money for Parkinson’s UK’s vital work supporting people living with the condition and funding research into better treatments and, one day, a cure.

I can’t promise I’ll be fast, graceful or remotely elegant, but however hard it gets, I’ll be thinking of my Dadaji and my Grandad every step of the way. I will cross that finish line, even if I have to crawl over it 😂

I’d be so grateful for any donation, big or small. Every pound helps, and your support genuinely means so much!!!

Thank you 🫶🏽
