Running for Parkinsons

Like many people, my dad is one of the closest people in my life and someone I have always looked up to. He has taught me a lot throughout my life, but most importantly, he has shown me the importance of love, family and being there for the people around you.
In January 2024, my dad was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. Since then, Parkinson’s has become a huge part of not only his life, but the lives of all of us as a family and the people around us.
Sadly, Parkinson’s is something that is particularly close to home for us. My auntie, my dad’s sister, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2019. This means that our family is now witnessing two people we love living with the condition, each experiencing it in their own individual way.
Parkinson’s affects everyone differently, and one of the hardest things for us is the uncertainty of what the future may hold and how the condition may continue to affect my dad and our family. But we also know that we are just one of many families and individuals whose lives have been changed by Parkinson’s. There are so many people living with the condition, as well as families and loved ones supporting them every day.
The support provided by Parkinson’s charities and organisations is incredibly important, whether that is providing information and guidance, supporting people and their families through the challenges of living with Parkinson’s, or funding research to better understand the condition and work towards new treatments and, ultimately, a cure.
I’m raising money because I want to contribute to that support and help others who are facing the same uncertainty that my family has experienced.
Being able to do something I enjoy while raising money for a cause that is so incredibly close to my heart makes this even more meaningful to me.
Parkinson’s has changed my dad and our family in ways we never expected, but it has also shown us just how important family, love and support are.
Every donation, no matter how big or small, means so much to me and my family. Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for supporting such an important cause. ❤️
