Manchester Half Marathon 2025

Why I’m Running the Manchester Marathon for Parkinson’s UK

This year, I’m lacing up my running shoes and taking on the Manchester Marathon with one very personal goal in mind: to raise funds and awareness for Parkinson’s UK—a cause that’s incredibly close to my heart.

Parkinson’s isn’t just a word I’ve heard in passing. It’s a reality my family has lived with for years. Both of my grandads battled the condition, and more recently, it became even more personal when my dad was diagnosed with early onset Parkinson’s at just 46 years old.

Watching the impact this condition has had on the people I love most has been heartbreaking. Parkinson’s doesn’t just affect movement—it touches every part of daily life. It challenges independence, it tests mental and emotional strength, and it reshapes family dynamics in ways you never expect. But it has also shown me what true resilience looks like.

Running a marathon is tough—but it’s nothing compared to the fight that people living with Parkinson’s face every single day. That’s why I’m putting in the miles. Every step I take is for my dad, my grandads, and the thousands of others living with this progressive neurological condition.

I’m running to support Parkinson’s UK because they’re doing vital work—funding groundbreaking research to find better treatments and ultimately a cure, while also providing essential support and guidance to families like mine.

If you’re able to donate, no matter how big or small, it will mean the world—not just to me, but to every person affected by Parkinson’s who benefits from the incredible work this charity does.

Thank you for reading, and thank you for your support.

Let’s run towards a future without Parkinson’s.
