Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I’ve been lucky enough to be given the opportunity to run in the 2027 TCS London Marathon for Parkinson’s UK on Sunday 25 April!🏃🏼♀️💙
I’ve wanted to run the London Marathon for a while now, so I’m incredibly excited (and slightly terrified😂) that I’ll finally get to do it, and for such an amazing cause!
My Nan was diagnosed with Parkinson’s a few years ago, and it’s been really difficult to see first hand how the disease can affect someone and progress so quickly. Parkinson’s is a progressive neurological condition that affects movement, and up to 70% of people with Parkinson’s develop Parkinson’s dementia. This has undoubtedly been one of the hardest parts of my Nan’s diagnosis, both for her and for my family.
I’m hoping to use this opportunity to not only raise money to go towards research & support services, but also help raise some awareness of the disease. Around 1 in 37 people will be diagnosed with Parkinson’s in their lifetime, so it’s something that affects far more people than you might realise.
As for the marathon itself, it’s definitely going to be one of the hardest things I’ve ever done but I’m determined to give it everything I’ve got and hopefully make my Nan & family proud along the way.
Any donation, even small, would be hugely appreciated and really will go towards a meaningful cause. Thank you for supporting me!🏃♀️💙
We’re Parkinson’s UK. The charity that’s here to support every Parkinson’s journey, every step of the way. Wherever you’re from, whatever you need.
