Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK
This year I have decided to sign up for the Manchester Half Marathon this October so I have 6 months to go 🙈 it’s not just to challenge myself physically it’s because I want to make a difference. I’m running to support Parkinson’s research, awareness, and the people affected by this condition.
Every penny that is raised helps Parkinson’s UK supports research to improve care and provide vital help for people and families living with Parkinson’s day-to-day. Whether it’s motor symptoms, emotional struggles, or the impact on families, your donation goes toward real support and progress. A close family member of mine lives with Parkinson’s, and I see first-hand the challenges it brings. It’s not just about tremors or stiffness, it’s the emotional weight, the daily reality, and the courage it takes just to get through the day, she is the strongest woman I know, and that is why I’m running in her honour and also for everyone whose life has been affected by this condition.
Parkinson’s affects far more people than many realise. Each year, thousands of people are diagnosed with Parkinson’s and sadly the number continues to grow. With more awareness and research, we can improve diagnosis, care, and treatment.
I’m running to help turn those statistics into hope.
I also work as a carer, and over the years I have supported residents who unfortunately live with Parkinson’s too. I’ve witnessed the challenges, the needs, and the moments that remind me why support matters. Those experiences only strengthen my reason to help however I can. I am running because I care. I care about people, about dignity, about compassion, and about doing whatever I can to make life better for others. Running 13.1 miles is tough but knowing I’m doing it for something bigger than myself makes every step worth it.

I’m raising money for Parkinson’s UK because I believe in hope, research, and a future where Parkinson’s doesn’t hold people back. If you’re able to donate, even a small amount, it will make a difference and help me reach my funding goal 🙂
Thank you for supporting me and for making a difference ✨
