My activity tracking

206
miles

My target 200 miles

Welcome - Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK

I’m taking part in Walk for Parkinson’s 100 Mile Challenge, again, Year 2, to help fund specialist care for people with Parkinson’s. I share this journey.

Dear friends, a year has gone by so quickly.  I thank you all again for your generous support for this worthy cause in 2024.

I achieved 206 miles, your sponsorship helped us raise almost £2,000. Let us try again this coming May 2025. I have set myself a manageable target which I hope we can review as the month progresses.

I'm uniting with thousands of others, all passionate about improving life for people with Parkinson’s.

In anticipation, always with an encouraging HUG and a BIG THANK YOU.

TARGETS ACHIEVED - NEW GOALS PROPOSED

Monday 19th May
Dear friends and sponsors.

You have been wonderful, kind and very generous.

Thank you again on behalf of Parkinson's UK.  Your sponsorship to date total is £550 as at 19th May. Wow!

I am setting YOU a new sponsorship goal for the month end @ £750.

I NOW NEED TO EARN YOUR SPONSORSHIP

I have therefore revised my goal for miles walked to 200 miles by 31st May 2025. Miles walked as at 20th May 2025 = 110 miles. This will be challenging.

90 miles to go. It would be good to know that I will have your sponsorship.

12th May - Progress monitoring Day

Monday 12th May
I hadn't decided on where to go, but water and at least 4 miles needed to feature.

A peaceful morning, which followed annual review checks.

Success. Xx

Day 11 - Parkinson's 100 mileage added

Sunday 11th May
Today's walk was planned as a day for getting miles under the belt, which I did successfully.

Very pleased as we also met some interesting people and received a Canal Rock gift.

Day 10 - Parkinson's 100 'Rest-day'

Saturday 10th May
My walking shoes needed a rest day. I thought I would share them with you.

They are called 'Keen'. Well they are wonderful  and are definitely keen.🤣😍

Day 9 - Parkinson 100 An interesting day - Planned and Unplanned

Friday 9th May
You start with an outline plan - walk at least 6 miles, and an idea of a route, just in case you need help!!

Today started with walking to the other side of town, which also gave the opportunity for a picture or two when I got to the lock gates. A Volunteer lock-gate keeper was nearby when I got there so I sought her help with my phone. I explained the background to my request and T-shirt and she responded that her husband had been diagnosed with Parkinson's four years ago. You cannot plan such situations, besides sharing the journey - Her husband had always been religious with his medication (life-changing) and the importance of exercise.

The environment here is beautiful so I decided to head for Iford Manor, a lovely cup of coffee, and a walk which achieved my goal - 6.53 miles. A treat at Avon Cliffe where the chef from the No 10 café kindly offered me a tart she had just baked - delicious.

Whoopee, I have now walked over 50 miles in these opening nine days.

Whoopee, you have sponsored me to a total of £475 so far; £50 of this current total is not online - Thanks Tony for CAF cheque.

Thank you so much. Have a lovely weekend dear friends.

Hugs

Hassan

PS. I met the 'artist' who sculpted the heads in one of my pictures. They are not sculptures of famous people but of friendships made along the canal.

8th May - Keeping the commitment on the agenda

Thursday 8th May
We had our local PD support group this morning. Have to admit that I was feeling tired.

Today's walk followed the meeting and aimed at 'keeping the joints mobile', and enjoying the views on a chilly afternoon.

7th May 2025 - Parkinson's UK 100 PROGRESS REPORT

Thursday 8th May
Progress Report!!!! Well I wanted to keep you in the picture as you all are being so generous with your sponsorship. Week 1 complete and making good progress.

I was not sure until I walked out of the front door, where I was headed, or how far. It didn't take long to decide as it was a beautiful morning.

Bath here I come. Met some interesting people on the way. Thank for our chats.

Day 5 - Parkinson 100 Interesting view at the end of the walk.
