Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK
I'm running the Haltemprice 10k and fundraising for Parkinson’s UK, In memory of my Grandma Anita.
My Grandma sadly passed away in 2024 after living with Parkinson's for 18 years. She was a wonderful Mum, Wife, Sister, Auntie, Grandma and friend, and was such an important part of my life.
I have so many happy memories with my Grandma, both before and throughout her years living with Parkinson's. Having seen first-hand the impact the condition can have, raising money for Parkinson's UK is something that means a lot to me.
I miss her so much, and I know she'd be cheering me on- and wanting to get a tea and cake afterwards.
Parkinson's is a complex brain condition that has no cure and gets worse over time. It has more than 40 symptoms, from tremor and pain to anxiety. And Parkinson's is on the rise. Someone is diagnosed every 20 minutes in the UK today. By 2050, the number of people with Parkinson’s worldwide will double to 25 million.
