Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK

Thank you so much for visiting my fundraising page.

On Sunday 25 April 2027, I’ll be taking on the TCS London Marathon in support of Parkinson’s UK, and I’d be incredibly grateful for any support you can give.

I’m running in memory of my grandpa, who lived with Parkinson’s disease, a brain tumour and bowel cancer. Life dealt him more than his fair share of challenges, but one of the things I’ll always remember is his sense of humour, his positivity and the way he always brought a smile to the people around him.

As I got older, I saw how Parkinson’s affected not only my grandpa, but our whole family. My granny cared for him with so much love and devotion, and watching them face everything together showed me that Parkinson’s doesn’t just affect the person diagnosed – it affects everyone who loves them. It’s a disease I wouldn’t wish on anyone.

This cause has become even more meaningful since moving to London to study for my Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering. As part of my master’s thesis, I’m researching Parkinson’s disease, using wearable technology to better understand symptoms such as sleep problems and tremors. Knowing that my studies could contribute, even in a small way, to improving the lives of people living with Parkinson’s makes running this marathon even more special.

That’s why I’ve chosen to run for Parkinson’s UK. The charity funds groundbreaking research, campaigns for better health and care, and provides vital support to people living with Parkinson’s and their families every single day.

Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help Parkinson’s UK continue this incredible work. Thank you for supporting both this amazing charity and me on my journey to the London Marathon. It truly means the world to me.
