Pedal Wye Valley Charity Cycle – In Aid of Parkinson’s UK

This Sunday I’ll be taking on the Pedal Wye Valley Charity Cycle to raise money for Parkinson’s UK.

Parkinson’s is a progressive neurological condition that affects the brain. It happens when nerve cells that produce dopamine – a chemical that helps control movement – stop working properly. This can lead to symptoms such as tremors, stiffness and slowed movement, as well as other challenges that affect daily life.

Earlier this year, my mum was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. She’s doing really well, but I know there may be challenges ahead. I wanted to do something positive to show my support for her, and to help a charity that not only funds vital research but also provides support to people living with Parkinson’s and their families.

The ride itself is going to be a real test: 82 miles with around 2,000m of climbing. Although it’s shorter than the Carten I completed earlier this year, the amount of climbing will make this an even tougher challenge — so fingers crossed I make it!
