Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK
I’m walking to help fund specialist Parkinson’s care to thousands more people who urgently need it.
Thousands of us are uniting to help people with Parkinson’s, and those who love and care for them, get access to the support they need. Gill and I will join some of my friends from the weekly neuro-walking football sessions that I go to, and others, at Herrington Park in Sunderland on 14th September. We will all walk either 2.4 miles or, for those a bit fitter than me, 4.8 miles.
When I was diagnosed with Parkinsons 13 years ago, I remember there were at least 3 specialist nurses at Sunderland Royal Hospital. Now, to my knowledge, there are only 2, and neither is full time. In some areas of the country there is no specialist support at all.

We did it!
Monday 15th Sep
The Walk for Parkinsons went very well and was a great experience for Gill and I We met up with lots of friends from neuro walking football, plus my old mate George Tullin. It was really good to have a catch up with George as we walked around the 2.4 mile route in Herrington Country Park. As we crossed the finish line, one of the organisers told us that i was the top money raiser from the whole event! Well, that’s all down to you and your generous donations. Many thanks to one and all for helping to make this event so successful. We made a wonderful contribution to the funds for helping to get much needed specialist nurses to help the Parkinsons community.
