My first ever half-marathon! 😬
Thursday 24th SepI’m running my first ever half marathon on October 4th, for Parkinson’s UK, in memory of my amazing Grandad., Clembo 💙
My Grandad suffered with Parkinson’s in the years before he passed away, and it’s a cause that will always be very close to my heart.
He was genuinely one of the most amazing men I’ve ever known. He was kind, funny, caring and loved by so many people - despite being a city fan! Anyone who knew him will know just how special he was, and I feel incredibly lucky to have had him as my Grandad.
I wanted my biggest run ever to mean something, so choosing to do it in his memory and raise money for such a brilliant charity felt like the perfect reason to push myself through every kilometre.
A half marathon is a long way further than anything I’ve ever run before 😂, but knowing I’m doing it for Grandad and for everyone affected by Parkinson’s will hopefully keep me going when it gets tough.
If you’re able to donate, no matter how small, I’d be incredibly grateful. Every penny will help Parkinson’s UK continue supporting people living with the disease and funding research into better treatments and, one day, a cure.
I’m in the later wave and I’m hoping to finish around 1:30 - 1:45pm mark, if anyone wants to come and cheer me on at the finish line. 🎉
