Running London for my dad
My reason for running the London Marathon for Parkinson’s UK is deeply personal.
My father has always been a strong and present figure in my life, someone I have always admired and relied on. Over the years, I have had to come to terms with the changes brought by aging and parkinsonism, and how they affect not only him, but our entire family.
One of the hardest parts has been learning to navigate the gradual loss of the person I once knew, while still embracing and loving the person he is today. It is an emotional journey that has taught me about patience, resilience, and the importance of support.
That is why Parkinson’s UK resonates so strongly with me. The work they do to support people living with Parkinson’s and their families is essential. It helps make this journey less isolating and more manageable.
In April 2027, I’ll be running the London Marathon in honour of my father and to give back to a community that supports families like mine every day. It represents both a personal challenge and a commitment to making a difference.
My goal is to raise £2,300 for Parkinson’s UK. Every donation, no matter the amount, will help me turn those 26.2 miles into something bigger than a race. Thank you for being part of this journey. 💙
