My wee daddy

Tuesday 28th Jan

On December 31, 2024, I said goodbye to my wee daddy, the kindest, most generous man. He was my rock, my role model, and my source of unconditional love. He was the type of person who would have done anything for my siblings and I, always putting others before himself, even as he faced his own battles.

My dad had Parkinsons disease, a cruel and relentless condition that brought challenges none of us could have anticipated. Yet, even in the face of those challenges, he remained the amazing man we all loved so deeply. His strength and determination inspired me every single day.

Parkinsons UK & NI became a vital part of our lives during Dad's journey. They were there for us when we needed support and guidance. Their help gave us comfort during some of our darkest days, and for that, I will always be grateful.

That's why I’ve decided to take on the Parkinson's 50/50 Challenge 50 miles, 50 days in memory of my dad. This challenge isn’t just about putting one foot in front of the other; its about honouring the incredible man who gave me so much and giving back to Parkinson's UK.

Every step I take will be for my dad his kindness, his strength, and his unwavering love. He taught me what it means to give selflessly, and now its my turn to give back in his memory. The funds raised through this challenge will go to Parkinson's UK & NI, supporting their vital work in helping families like mine navigate the realities of this disease and funding the research that will one day lead to a cure.

This is for you, Dad. For your kindness, your love, and everything you taught me. I miss you more than words can say, but I know you’ll be with me every step of the way.

To everyone reading this, thank you for taking the time to hear my story. If you’re able to support me in this challenge whether through a donation, sharing this post, or cheering me on, I would be so grateful. Together, we can make a difference for those living with Parkinson's and honour the memories of the loved ones we’ve lost.

This ones for my wee daddy. Always loved, always missed.

Emma xx
