Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK
Thank you so much for visiting my fundraising page!
On 13 September 2026, I’ll be taking on the Great North Run to raise vital funds for Parkinson’s UK.
Three years ago, my dad was diagnosed with Parkinson’s at just 59.
My dad has always been one of my biggest supporters. He gave up almost every weekend to drive me to badminton competitions, stood on the sidelines cheering me on, and was always there to pick me up when things didn’t go my way.
And even now, he continues to be there for me. Whether it’s helping with the boys, supporting me through work or simply being there whenever I need him, he never hesitates to drop everything and help.
Seeing Parkinson’s begin to impact someone who has always been so strong, active and there for everyone else has been incredibly hard. But rather than letting that feeling take over, I want to do something positive with it.
Taking on the Great North Run is my way of giving something back to my dad, while raising awareness and much-needed funds for everyone living with Parkinson’s and the families who support them.
I’m hoping to raise as much as I possibly can to help Parkinson’s UK provide vital advice, support and information to people affected by the condition. No matter how big or small, every donation will make a difference and will mean so much to me and my family.
If you’re able to sponsor me, I would be incredibly grateful.
Thank you for supporting me, my dad, and everyone living with Parkinson’s. ❤️

Hi Emma, I have thoroughly enjoyed working with your dad on what is known as “his project"! It simply wouldn't have been the same without him. His knowledge, good humour and positivity have made a real difference throughout. He's been fantastic to work with and even better to share a bottle of Pinot Noir with! Wishing you all the very best for the run in support of such a worthwhile cause. Best wishes. Liam
