Last year, I started running — and I fell completely in love with it. What began as a small personal challenge quickly became something that grounded me, strengthened me, and brought me real joy.

Now, I’ve decided it’s time to put that love of running into something worthwhile.

I’m taking part in the Great North Run 2026, and I’m running in honour and in memory of my wonderful Nanny, Mary, my wider family, and all those who have faced the cruel effects of Parkinson’s.

Parkinson’s is a neurological condition that develops when the brain can’t make enough dopamine because the nerve cells that produce it have stopped working. Without enough dopamine, everyday tasks become harder, and over time Parkinson’s can slowly steal so much — independence, confidence, and the simple moments that make up a life.

It’s also a condition that’s on the rise. Around 166,000 people in the UK are currently living with Parkinson’s, and someone is diagnosed every 20 minutes. Worldwide, the number of people living with Parkinson’s is expected to double to 25 million by 2050. These growing numbers mean that specialist support is more important than ever.

That’s why I’m running — and why I’m asking for your support.

By sponsoring me, you’ll be helping to fund Parkinson’s UK nurses, who provide vital advice, support, and information to people living with Parkinson’s and their families. These specialist nurses help people manage symptoms, navigate medication changes, understand treatment options, and find a sense of control in what can often feel like overwhelming circumstances. Their work genuinely changes lives.

This run is my way of standing up to Parkinson’s and helping ensure that no one faces it alone.
