Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK
I'll be completing walk for Parkinson's on 26th July 2026 in Hylands Park Chelmsford.
My old man was diagnosed with Parkinson's in May 2025.
He's survived more than most. Open heart surgery, a broken heel, hip replacement surgery, a defib fitted, a hernia operation and putting up with me as a daughter for the past 35 years. He's been through the wars.
If that wasn't enough, he now has the Parkinson's diagnosis to navigate with the help of my mum - although he is now a great cocktail shaker.
He had to give up driving, he retired shortly before the diagnosis and losing both of those things that were big factors in his life has taken away a good chunk of his freedom.
Parkinson's hasn't stopped him though. Hes an avid gardener, also helping with the neighbours garden in his spare time, spends plenty of time with his family and grandchildren for breakfasts or daytime discos, and when he's got some spare time he'll pop Jurassic Park on for the 15th time this year.
Spare a couple of quid for the old bugger so he can watch Jurassic Park a 16th time. I also HATE walking so he's lucky I'm doing this.
Thanks,
Em xo
