Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I’m taking part in the Manchester Marathon for Parkinson’s UK and would really appreciate your support!
I’ll be taking part in memory of my amazing Grandad, who we sadly lost in April 2025.
My Grandad suffered from Parkinson’s, and those close to me know how incredibly special he was to me and our family. Grandad was one of the kindest and most inspiring people you could have the pleasure of meeting, and I'm so grateful to have known him and to love him.
The day after he passed, I read someone ask the question:
"If I was brave, what would I do?"
I've decided that's a question I want to ask myself as I move through life from this point onwards. I owe it to myself, and most importantly to Grandad, to be brave.
In May 2025, just 9 days after we lost Grandad, I undertook the Bridgnorth Walk for Parkinson's UK. This was a 21.5 mile walk from Bridgnorth to the summit of the Brown Clee hill, and back again. This was the first of many more brave things to come, and from that point I set a future goal to continue raising money for Parkinson's UK, and to one day run a marathon for the charity. I’m hoping that by taking on the challenge of Manchester Marathon in his memory, I will be able to make him as proud as I am to have been his granddaughter.
Parkinson’s UK as a charity do incredible work to support those diagnosed with Parkinson’s, and I know from our personal experience that their work was of great benefit to Grandad after his diagnosis.
Please help by sponsoring my challenge. All money raised will help fund breakthroughs and help support the Parkinson's community.
Thank you in advance for any and all donations or support given, it really means so much to me and my family.
