Why I'm fundraising for Parkinson's UK

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I’m taking part in Run 50/50 for Parkinson’s UK, running 50 miles in 50 days to support the Parkinson’s community.

Parkinson's UK is a charity that is personally important to my family and I. My mom was diagnosed in 2018 with early onset Parkinson's, since then, we have all learnt how little is known about Parkinson's and the treatments that are available. It is the UK's fastest growing neurological diagnosis, yet it does not get the funding it needs.

My mom's journey has not been easy or straightforward, from searching and fighting for a diagnosis, to people not understanding that Parkinson's is often an invisible disability - with extremely visible signs that sometimes manifest randomly.

However, I can confidently say that she is the strongest woman I know. She is not only strong solely due to her tenacity and optimism towards not letting Parkinson's define her or stop her from doing things she wants to do. She also displays her strength through living with a disease that is unpredictable and extremely physically and mentally painful at times.

My mom is a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend; she is a person who does not let her disease define her. She is also known to have a great sense of style and grace in everything she does.

If you’re able to sponsor me, my family and I would be so grateful. Every penny helps fund groundbreaking research and life-changing support for people living with Parkinson’s.

White Swan's at Barston Lake!

Tuesday 31st Mar
I saw some lovely sights whilst on my 3.3 mile run around Barston Lake, including this white swan and their family. Just under 3 weeks left of the 50/50 run and today I hit 31 miles! Very thankful for the donations and all the support as always. I can't wait to get the money raised where it's needed!

Getting lost on a walk and Run 50/50 shirt!

Wednesday 25th Mar
It's been a busy two weeks for me but I've still been doing the miles needed to stay on track! I got a surprise in the post when Parkinson's UK sent me my Run 50/50 shirt, I wore it on my run for that day! That run turned out to be an eventful one to say the least, getting lost in fields wasn't a part of the plan! But, still, getting lost allowed me to see more of the pastoral sights and tally up those miles too! Thank you to everyone who has been donating and who has donated, we're halfway there!

Manor Walk

Monday 9th Mar
A very successful walk/run today, with a 4 mile trek making my total miles run 7 1/2! Keeping on track to do 7 miles a week! Thank you for all the support, especially from the people from my community in Hampton-In-Arden! We're over £300 raised for Parkinson's UK now, I'm extremely grateful for all the support.

Muddy first run!

Tuesday 3rd Mar
It was a muddy first run this afternoon but it was still great to get started! 2.24 miles down, a few more of those runs to go this week! Let's keep on track and keep donating! Thank you!

The event is nearly here!

Friday 27th Feb
I'm overwhelmed by the support for this fundraiser!
Thank you to everyone who has donated and read about why I'm raising money for Parkinson's UK. Every pound really will make a difference to supporting people fighting Parkinson's and to funding research!

I've upped the donation goal twice today! That just goes to show how well this fundraiser is going.

I'll be posting weekly running updates on here to keep track of my miles! I've been out of running practice for some years so it should be interesting!

Thank you to my sponsors

Well done on taking on this challenge. Also from Hampton, and unfortunately my family knows exactly what your family are experiencing. I am sure you will succeed with your runs.

What a great thing to do. Well done. My stepfather suffered from this so I know how difficult it is for both the sufferer and their family
