Marathon motivation
This year I’ve set myself a challenge that honestly scares me a little: running the London marathon, the Birmingham Half Marathon, and even an ultra marathon. There will be early mornings, aching legs, and moments where I’ll question why I signed up in the first place.
But every step has a reason.
I’m running to raise money for Parkinson’s research and support, because this is a disease that touched my family in a very personal way. My grandad lived with Parkinson’s, and watching someone you love slowly be affected by it is something that stays with you.
Parkinson’s doesn’t just impact movement. It slowly takes pieces of everyday life that most of us never think about — steady hands, clear speech, independence, confidence. For the people living with it, and for the families around them, it can be incredibly difficult.
My grandad was a strong, kind person who meant a lot to our family. Seeing the challenges he faced with Parkinson’s showed me just how important it is that we continue funding research, support services, and awareness. No family should have to feel helpless watching someone they love go through it.
That’s why I’m running.
When training gets tough, when the miles feel long, and when my legs want to stop, I’ll be thinking about him and about everyone else living with Parkinson’s today. If pushing myself physically can help raise even a small amount of money to support research and those affected, then every mile will be worth it.
This year I’ll be running:
A marathon
The Birmingham Half Marathon
An ultra marathon
Each race is another opportunity to raise awareness and funds for a cause that means so much to me.
If you’re able to support the fundraiser, no matter how small the donation, it really does make a difference. And even if you can’t donate, sharing the page or sending a message of support means a lot too.
Thank you for helping me turn these miles into something meaningful.
For my grandad, and for everyone affected by Parkinson’s.
Thank you to my sponsors
