My Story – Why I’m Running for Parkinson’s UK
Friday 8th AugI’ve signed up to run the Hackney Half Marathon - partly as a personal challenge, but also as a reminder to appreciate what my body can do. Running isn’t always easy, but I’m constantly aware that being able to move freely is a privilege.
Parkinson’s is a condition that slowly takes away that freedom - something so many of us take for granted. While I don’t have a personal connection to the disease through family or friends, I have seen how unfair and devastating it can be when people lose the ability to do the everyday things they love.
I want to use my run to help fund research that will change that future. The more we understand about Parkinson’s, the closer we get to preventing it, treating it better, and supporting those who live with it.
So while I’ll be training my legs and lungs for race day, I’ll also be running with the hope that one day, no one will have to face the loss of movement and independence that Parkinson’s brings. Every donation, big or small, will get us closer to that day.
