Day 6 Herne Bay to Faversham
Thursday 21st May Long day today, 15 miles. Started out under grey sky's but as the day went on it got warmer with sunny spells. Very flat as the path follows the coast along the sea wall for most of the journey. A long winding Faversham Creek means that you double back on your self quite a bit with no opportunity to short cut as there is now a huge solar farm you have to walk around. Only two more legs to go, 72 miles done only 28 to go. Share
Day 5, Margate to Herne Bay
Friday 15th May Good day today, the rain held off but there was a stiff NE breeze the whole way. The path is relatively flat and follows the sea walk most of the way till Reculver, then it rises up to go along the cliffs tops into Herne Bay., just under 13 miles today, so well past the 50 miles and each leg gets me closer to home. Day 4, Ramsgate to Margate
Wednesday 13th May Wet and wild today, 10 miles being chased by rain and thunderstorms with a strong head wind. Didn't enjoy it but it had to be done. Share
Day 3, Deal to Ramsgate
Saturday 9th May Off on stage 3 of my walk around the Kent Coast, Deal to Ramsgate today, not the most interesting route, the first few miles follow the pebble beach along side the Sandwich Golf courses, then the path goes inland across the Royal St George's Golf Course to Sandwich in order to cross the R Stour. The path back out to Pegwell Bay follows the main road (duel carriageway) but once you get to Pegwell Bay you are back on the cliffs past the Viking Ship and then down into Ramsgate, 14 miles. Share
Day 2, Dover to Deal
Wednesday 6th May Just under 11 miles today, started out in Dover with a steep climb up from town to the Top of the Cliffs and then a gentle walk along the White Cliffs path to St Margaret's Bay, then over South Foreland before descending back down to sea level for the walk into Deal via Walmer.
Day 1, May 1st - Folkestone to Dover
Monday 4th May Interesting 10 miles up and over the North Downs, a warm sunny day with just enough of a sea breeze to keep the temperature comfortable. Lots of interesting WW2 architecture dotted along the coast, including the concrete listening posts and the Battle of Britain museum. Visibility in the Channel was good enough to see France. On the decent into Dover the Castle on the top of the cliffs looked resplendent in the Sunshine. Share
My challenge
Monday 4th May My plan is to walk the Kent Coastal path from Folkestone to the Strand in Gillingham over 8 days throughout May. ShareThank you to my sponsors
