TCS London Marathon Saturday 2027

Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK

On Saturday 24 April 2027 I’ll be taking on the TCS London Marathon for Parkinson’s UK. This massive challenge means far more to me than simply crossing the finish line.

My grandad lived with Parkinson’s for many years before he sadly passed away. During that time, Parkinson’s UK was a source of invaluable advice and support for him and for our family. Their help did not end there. My nan is still supported by Parkinson’s UK and remains an active member of the Birmingham South Parkinson’s support group. I have seen first hand how important that community can be. The group provides a welcoming place for people living with Parkinson’s, alongside their families and carers, to meet others who truly understand. Through regular meet-ups, walking groups and exercise classes, it offers friendship, encouragement and practical support when it is needed most.

The 26.2 miles I’ll run are nothing compared with the challenge of living with Parkinson’s every day. If you are able to donate, no matter the amount, you will be helping Parkinson’s UK continue to be there for people like my grandad, my nan and so many other families.

Thank you for your generosity and for being part of this journey.
