TCS London Marathon 2026

Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK

I will be running in the TCS 2026 London Marathon for Parkinson’s UK, in memory of my grandad Spike. Being from a very close family, we all helped and supported grandad with his battle against Parkinsons disease. Having seen first hand the impact that having the condition had, and how challenging and frustrating everyday activities became, is the reason I aim to raise as much sponsorship as possible for the charity. This will help support people with Parkinsons, their families, but also to help fund research into new treatments and a cure.

Grandad was diagnosed with Parkinsons when he was 65 and battled this disease for over 20 years. He took in his stride everything Parkinsons threw at him and never complained. He was determined to live life as normal as possible and found a way to be positive even when times would have been extremely challenging and tough. His motto being “Take each day as it comes.”

In the early stages, grandad suffered with involuntary shaking and his movement slowed down a lot. He later had limited mobility and balance issues, accompanied with other health issues linked to having Parkinsons. He was a fighter though and had inspiring determination, proving the doctors wrong on more than one occasion. Remembering how grandad loved and enjoyed life, even with all the obstacles Parkinson’s handed him, gives me the motivation to dedicate the next few months training to take on and complete the London Marathon.

Being given the opportunity to represent Parkinsons UK means so much to me,  and I would really appreciate your support! Please help by sponsoring me and I will do the hard bit and run the 26.2 miles on April 26th. Every penny will help make a difference and is really appreciated. Thank you.
