Great North Run 2024

Help me reach my goal of £750

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I’m taking part in the Great North Run on 10 September 2024 to raise vital funds for Parkinson's UK. 

Please help by sponsoring me whatever you can. All the money raised will go to Parkinson’s UK nurses, to provide much-needed advice, support and information for people who are living with the condition.

My dad lived with Parkinson's for many years and he and my mum were supported by his Parkinson's nurse and their local group.

Dad fought every day to keep walking and so I'm running in his memory because I can run.

Preparing for Hedgehog Half Marathon

Sunday 22nd Sep
After a rest week to recover from GNR last week This week I've begun preparing for Hedgehog Half Marathon my last half of 2024, this one is local. 9.5 miles today, some solo, some with company.

Great North Run Completed

Monday 9th Sep
Completed my 11th GNR in a time of 2 hours, 28 minutes and 21 seconds, some way off my PB but not my slowest time either. Probably the wettest GNR I've ever done, rain didn't stop until I was about half way round. It was actually quite nice for running but not very nice when waiting to start and rather chilly at the end.
The next challenge is Hedgehog Half Marathon in October which is a local race.

Monday 2nd Sep
Completed my last long training run, 11 miles last Thursday (better late than never!). Now enjoying the taper ahead of Sunday. Hoping for cooler than last year (and no thunderstorm at the end!)

GNR Training

Wednesday 7th Aug
Local 10 mile race run at the start of July, thankfully it was a fairly cool day. After a couple of weeks of lower mileage I'm now back to getting the long runs in, plan is 9 miles today...

Time to taper!

12 miles run today in sunshine, was frosty when we set off but bright sunshine all the way round.

I decided I'd get an early start on training so I've entered Retford half marathon in March, it's one I've run before but not since 2020. Should mean I'm fitter for GNR than I was last year...
