Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I’m taking part in the TCS 2025 London Marathon for Parkinson’s UK and would really appreciate your support!

A little bit about me and why I’m doing this….for those that don’t know my dad, Dave, passed away in August 2019, he was 61 years old.

He had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s a short time before hand and lived with Parkinson’s for those couple of years before an inoperable ruptured brain aneurysm took him away from us.

During the time after his Parkinson’s diagnosis the Parkinson’s UK team came to my parents house and helped them with so many things from paperwork for PIPS; to techniques to help my dad with his walking, like striped patterned floor mats.  To this day my Mum can’t sing their praises enough!

Fast forward to now and I was so inspired by my friend who ran TCS 2024 London Marathon we both entered the ballot for 2025… and I got a place 🙈… call it “setting myself a challenge” or a “foolish decision which has backfired” ultimately the answer is the same =  I am running (with some walking) in TCS 2025 London Marathon and I’d love to do a little bit of fundraising in memory of my dad along the way.

They say the training and preparation is the real marathon and the event day is just your victory lap! I hoping this mindset gets me through all that’s ahead of me! 🤣

Please help by sponsoring me with whatever you can. The money raised will help fund groundbreaking research and change the lives of the Parkinson's community.

Thankyou

X

London Marathon 2025 = Done

Monday 28th Apr
Well folks…. That’s all done! I won’t lie it was tough, really rough, at times I had to dig deep and remember my why…. But I kept moving forwards and I am overwhelmed by the generosity of donations I have received! Thankyou so much!!! xxx

That’s a wrap… London here I come…. 🏃🏼‍♀️🙌🏻

Thursday 24th Apr
The training plan has been followed (mostly) And there’s nothing more I can do now other than show up and keep moving!! In 3 days time I will (hopefully)more than half way around London Marathon… 🏃🏼‍♀️ It ain’t gonna be fast, it ain’t gonna be pretty. But hopefully it’s going to a EPIC!!!! 💥 I’m raising money in memory of my dad for Parkinson’s so I’m sure there will be many emotions on my little mooch around the 26.2 miles! 💙 If you wanted to send any pennies my way via my sponsor link below they would be very much appreciated! 🙏🏻 https://events.parkinsons.org.uk/fundraisers/catherinekirkham

21 miles ✅

Tuesday 8th Apr
Last long run completed last week so now it’s taper time

Let’s Do This!!🙌🏻

Monday 24th Mar
So my 21 miler last week was cut short as my nan was moved to end of life care, she died on the Monday, 99 years old! What an age…🥰 Photo of my nan and my little boy a couple of years back. Today I was back at it… 7 miles in the bank, felt good, felt strong! One long run left to do before I taper… Let’s Do This!! 🙌🏻

20 mile run ☑️

Tuesday 11th Feb
Yesterday I did a 20 miler…
It was tough and my legs are paying for it today! 🫤

Do I have the ability to run another 6ish miles??  Why not sponsor me and find out?? 🤣🤔🤷🏼‍♀️

Big miles coming in now (big miles to me)

Thursday 30th Jan
17 miles in the bag today…
That was rough going… but they are done!

And as a very wise lady told me today, I haven’t got many big ones left to do now (I worked it out to be 3 big runs left to do before Race Day) 🙌🏻

First run on my own into double digits!

Saturday 16th Nov

Thank you to my sponsors

Good luck, you absolute legend! You’re about to run 26.2 miles—ON PURPOSE for a fantastic cause. Most people don’t even like driving that far without snacks. Remember: it’s not about speed, it’s about enjoying the experience and getting that medal. You’ve trained, you’ve suffered, and now it’s your time to shine (and chafe in all the worst places). Go boss it, you got this! P.S. Don’t trust a fart after mile 18.
