Running the London Marathon 2027 for Parkinson's UK
Tuesday 11th Aug In 2027, I'll be taking on the challenge of running the London Marathon in support of Parkinson's UK, a cause that has become deeply personal to me and my family. My dad was recently diagnosed with Parkinson's, and like so many families affected by this condition, we've seen first-hand the impact it can have on day-to-day life. Parkinson's is a progressive neurological condition that affects movement and can bring many physical and emotional challenges, not only for those living with it but also for the people who love and support them.
Watching my dad face this diagnosis with courage and determination has inspired me to do something meaningful. That's why I've decided to run 26.2 miles in the London Marathon and raise as much money as possible for Parkinson's UK.
Anyone who knows me will appreciate just how ambitious this is. At present, I'm probably far more likely to successfully complete 26.2 Krispy Kreme doughnuts (other brands are available) than 26.2 miles. Training for a marathon isn't exactly in my comfort zone, but that's the point. If my dad along with many others can face the daily challenges that come with Parkinson's with such strength and resilience, then I can certainly lace up my running shoes and get myself round London.
Parkinson's UK provides vital support to people living with Parkinson's and their families, while also funding groundbreaking research to improve treatments and work towards a cure. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help make a difference to those affected by this condition.
Training for a marathon will without a doubt be one of the biggest challenges I've ever taken on, but it pales in comparison to the challenges faced every day by people living with Parkinson's.
If you're able to support me with a donation, I would be incredibly grateful. Your generosity will help Parkinson's UK continue its vital work and will mean a great deal to me and my family.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for supporting me on this journey.
Together, we can make a difference for everyone affected by Parkinson's.
